Prayers, Advice, Please... For My Mami

This is the gist of the sitch:

My mother had to leave her apt in South Orange, NJ back in 2000 or so, because her building was going entirely co-op and she couldn't afford to buy the dang thing. So, since my great aunt was getting on in years, she moved in with her at her senior complex to look out for her, and has been there ever since.

Earlier this year. my great aunt passed away at 92. You would think that since the building management, in a similar aituation, let the person  who moved in with their relative take over the lease, that they'd do the same for my mother, yes?

No.

It turns out that they are pressuring her to move immediately, even though there was someone on the staff there (they kept changing staff all the time) who was trying to work with her and give her some more time and options. Somehow I get the feeling that in the instances of pushing for my mother to, at the very least, stay in the building, she wasn't helping much there at all. My mother says that she was trying to get them to put her name on the lease for years, but that the management at the time was incompetent (I won't say what she really said, LOL). Apparently he was, cuz he's not there anymore.

Now this building is run by public housing, and my mother has been on the Newark Housing Authority list for years. She is disabled and can't work, and only has limited income. She as been to the city government, legal aid-- you name it, she's prolly been there. She doesn't seem to be making any headway. I'm worried she'll really have no place to go soon.

From what I understand, what they are trying to do is get her into another senior building quicker, since she is pretty far up on the waiting list, and in light of the circumstances. But it doesn't look good... and she could be out as soon as next week (jerks). Someone was just up there giving her shite the other day about when was she going to move, claiming it was because the bigwigs are putting pressure on them, and they didn't even have the brass to come up themselves-- they sent the security guard from the front desk.Unbelievable.

So we all have been praying and hoping here, and we feel so helpless. I just wanted to ask for your prayers and or advice if you have any. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx in advance.... Yuri

Another Update: Mami has sent out letters to every political figure she could think of, and some news stations. She's waiting for a response. We tried to put my great aunt's furniture up on ebay after having it appraised online but I don't think it did very well. Mmai was hoping to use that money to move if/when she had to. There was also a man in the building who wanted to help her: when told she was being thrown out, he kinda went, "No...no. Not happening." Still praying for her and have my fingers crossed....

Update: I talked to my mami this morning. She said she has one more day to do something about this, and she's going to try to stick around until they really have to get a court order. The plan today is to write and fax letters to local government and to the Housing Authority. Also, I found out that in the past they made her sign a paper that said/confirmed that she was my great-aunt's caretaker, so that nullified any right she had to stay. Really sneaky...
